WorldCup-2016_logoInternational Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2016 was held from July 9, (arrival day) till July 17, 2016 (departure day) in St. Petersburg (Russia) 3rd Stage of World Cup 2016 in draughts-64 – International competition “White Nights-2016”. Competitions was held in St. Petersburg State budget educational institution of additional education “SDYUSSHOR in Chess and Draughts” (Chigorin club) at: Bolshaya Konyushennaya str. 25, St. Petersburg (Russia). World champion Sergey Belosheev become the winner in Blitz and Classic program. See results.

Place, date

Competitions are held in St. Petersburg State budget educational institution of additional education “SDYUSSHOR in Chess and Draughts” (Chigorin club) at: Bolshaya Konyushennaya str. 25, St. Petersburg (Russia) from July 9, (arrival day) till July 17, 2016 (departure day). Credentials Committee will work July 9, from 16.00 till 20.00.

All participants must have medical insurance for the period of competition.

Program of competitions

Following competitions are held:
3rd Stage of World Cup. Blitz
3rd Stage of World Cup. Classic program
Youth competitions for boys and girls born in 2000 year and younger (with the offset of the age groups 2000-2002, 2003-2005, 2006 – 2007, 2008 and younger).

Team standing is determined in the youth competitions. The composition of teams is 3 boys and 1 girl.

Participants

All participants regardless of gender, age and rating are allowed to participate in the 3rd Stage of World Cup; in junior competitions – players born in 2000 and younger, who registered in accordance with this regulation and paid the tournament fee. The number of participants representing the country is not limited.

Participants must comply with the dress code.
Participants must to be on the closing ceremony of the competition, in breach of the item participants lose all official awards. Awards will not be sent or transferred.

Tournament regulations

Competitions are held on the official rules of the IDF.
System of competition is Swiss. All tournaments are held by the system of micro-matches consist of two games.

3rd Stage of World Cup:
Blitz is held in Brazilian draughts and classic program is held in Russian draughts.
All programs are held with draw according to the official table, obligatory in both games of micro-match.
Time control:
Blitz: 3 minutes till the end of the game plus 2 seconds on each move;
Classic program: 45 minutes till the end of the game plus 10 seconds on each move, break between games is 5 minutes.

Youth competitions
Youth competitions are held in classic Russian draughts without draw of the moves.
Time control: 45 minutes for each participant before the end of the game, break between games is 5 minutes.

Determination of the winners

For individual competitions places of players are determined by the biggest amounts of points. In case of equal points of two or more participants the additional criteria are established by the panel of judges according to the system of the competition.

Participants of 3rd Stage of World Cup get points in the overall standing of the World Cup in accordance with the Regulations of the World Cup 2016 in draughts-64.

For youth competitions the results are determined separately among boys and girls in the age groups born in 2000-2002, 2003-2005, 2006-2007, 2008 and younger.

For team standing places are determined by the biggest amount of points scored by all team members.

In case of equal points of two or more teams places of the teams are determined by the least sum of places occupied by all team members.

Awards

3rd Stage of World Cup

Classic program:
Participant who took 1st place is awarded with cup, medals anddiplomas.
Participants who took 2nd and 3rd place are awarded with medals anddiplomas.
Participants who took 1st place among women, juniors born in 1997 and younger, seniors (60+) are awarded with cups, medals and diplomas. Participants who took 2nd and 3rd place in these categories are awarded with diplomas.
The winner of the 3rd stage of the World Cup in classic program automatically receives the international title “International Master”. The participants, who took 2nd and 3rd place receive the international title of “IDF Master”.

Blitz:
Participant who took 1st place is awarded with cup, medals anddiplomas.
Participants who took 2nd and 3rd place are awarded with medals anddiplomas.
Participants who took 1st, 2nd and 3rd places among women, juniors born in 1997 and younger, seniors (60+) are awarded with diplomas.

The prize fund of 3rd Stage of World Cup is not less than 150 000 rubles (1 500 euro).

Prizes are paid for highest classifications, the best woman, the best senior, the best junior and other prizes according to organizers decision. Additional awards will be announced by organizers at the opening ceremony.

Youth competition

Participants who took 1st place separately among boys and girls in the age groups 2000-2002, 2003-2005, 2006-2007, 2008 and younger are awarded with cups, medals and diplomas. Participants who took 2nd and 3rd places in the age groups are awarded medals and diplomas.

The team took 1st place in team standing is awarded cup and a diploma, the participants – diplomas.
Teams took 2nd and 3rd places and it participants are awarded with diplomas.

Finances

All costs of participants paid by sending organizations or yourself.
The costs for organizing the competition and paid by the Organizing Committee.

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation can be available in different mini-hotels near the club. Accommodation is booking independently. Organizers may to help with the cheapest options if necessary.

Tournament fees

Each participant of the competitions should pay organizational tournament fee at the day of arrival.

In 3rd Stage World Cup:
Classic program 2 400 rub (~30 euro), for participants from St. Petersburg – 1600 rub;
Blitz – 600 rub.

In youth competitions – 1000 rub.

 Standing in the World Cup 2016 after 3 Stages    

Belosheev-116-07-2016 3rd Stage of World Cup 2016 completed. More then 120 players from 20 countries took part in all tournaments of the 3rd stage of the World Cup! Prize fund of the competition was near 2 200 euro.

Sergey Belosheev played in the last round in draw with Vladimir Skrabov and International Grandmaster Mikhail Fedorov won Dmitry Abarinov. Both players scored 15 points, but the rate was better for the world champion. Thus, Sergey Belosheev won the classical program of the World Cup, Mikhail Fedorov – the second. Nikita Slavyanov won Edis Novitskis and with a score of 14 points took third place. World champion Zhanna Sarshaeva showed the best result among women, Damir Rysaev is the best among juniors, Dmitry Lond is the best among veterans.  


DSCN964715-07-2016  The 7th and 8th rounds of the classical program took place today. Before the last round with a score of 14 points is leading the world champion Sergey Belosheev. He in a bitter struggle won the world champion among women Sarshaeva Zhanna and played a draw with International Master Dmitrii Abarinov. The second place of the standings with a score of 13 points occupies Mikhail Fedorov, who played a draw with Vladimir Skrabov and defeated veteran of draughts Nikolay Abatsiev. Vladimir Skrabov with 12 points is in third place. Central game of the last round will be among Vladimir Skrabov and Sergey Belosheev, which will determine the winner of the 3rd stage of the World Cup.

Abatsiev-Lond13-07-2016   2 Rounds was held today. Sergey Belosheev still is the leader after 6 rounds with a score of 11 points out of 12. In the 6th round, he did the only draw is the international grandmaster Mikhail Fedorov, which is located on the second position of the standings with a score of 10 points. A large group of pursuers with a score of 9 points shares from 3rd to 9th place. On the third position of the standings with the best odds is former world champion among veterans, 79-year-old master of sports Dmitry Lond, who played in the last round in draw with another famous veteran – International Grandmaster Nikolay Abatsiev.


12-07-2016  Today the president of the International Draughts Federation Vladimir Langin gave an interview about the World Cup and the development of draughts on “Radio Baltica”.


World Cup-201612-07-2016 In the fourth round Sergey Belosheev won Andrey Kalachnikov and with the result of 8 points became the individual leader of the tournament. In the group of pursuers are Mikhail Fedorov, Eugene Kondrachenko and Nikita Slavyanov. They have 7 points.

After lunch, the participants went for a city bus tour.

11-07-2016  After three rounds of intense struggle in the classical program with a perfect result ahead International Grandmasters Sergey Belosheev, Mikhail Fedorov and Master Nikita Slavyanov. Tomorrow, in the 4th round important matches will be held between the leaders: Mikhail Fedorov meet with Nikita Slavyanov and world champion Sergey Belosheev will play with Grandmaster Andrei Kalachnikov.


10-07-2016   3rd Stage of World Cup started today.  Opening ceremony was held at 12.00. 1st round started at 13.00. 58 players from 10 countries take part in 3rd Stage of World Cup. 40 players take part in youth tournament. See current results.

BelosheevBlitz in Brazilian draughts started at 17.30.  80 players from 17 countries take part in competition. The winner of the Blitz became world champion, International Grandmaster Sergey Belosheev. On the second place is master of sports, repeated champion of Moscow Nikita Slavyanov. Winner of World Cup 2015 Vladimir Skrabov is on third place. 4th place and the best result among women have the world champion, International Grandmaster Zhanna Sarshaeva. The best result among veterans and 6th place in the tournament have prize winner of the world championships, International Grandmaster Nikolay Abatsiev. The best result among juniors have Damir Rysaev.

Representatives of 20 countries took part in both programs of the 3rd stage of the World Cup in St. Petersburg! It is currently an absolute record for the Stage of World Cup!

On behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko I pleased to welcome in the northern capital of Russia the organizers and participants of the 3rd stage of the World Cup 2016 in draughts among men and women, which will be held in the traditional international tournament “White Nights”.

For St. Petersburg there is a great honor and responsibility to hold again the prestigious draughts tournament of such a high international level. On the banks of the Neva brought together the strongest players from a variety of countries around the world.

St. Petersburg is a recognized world center for the development of draughts art. Our city, thanks to the creative energy of the president of the Draughts Federation of St. Petersburg Vladimir Langin, has a large positive experience in various draughts forums, including the European and World Championships. Draughts event on the Neva gave a huge impetus to the development and promotion of draughts worldwide.

I wish the intellectuals of this interesting sport creative discoveries, brilliant performances and new sport achievements!
