International Draughts Federation (IDF) together with Jamaica Draughts Association (JDA) in accordance with the calendar of the competitions 2018 held from 22 till 28 February 2018 in Montego Bay (Jamaica) 1st Pan American Draughts-64 Championship. Competitions were held in the three types of programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic.
Competitions were held with the support of the Fund for Promoting the Development of Draughts Sport “Russian Draughts”.
The first champion of Pan America in draughts-64 became the winner of the Blitz program Thomas Rohan (Jamaica). National Grandmaster Alexander Katz (USA) won Rapid program. The IDF master, multiple champion of Jamaica Reid Wayne won the classic program and became the first International Grandmaster in Jamaica. See results.

27-02-2018 1st Pan American Draughts-64 Championship was completed today. The multiple champion of Jamaica, IDF master Reid Wayne won the classic program. For this result he was awarded of the title “International Grandmaster”. The second player from Jamaica Thompson Courtney finished second and received the title “International Master”. Fridman Yigal from Canada took third place and also received the title “International Master”.
The closing ceremony took place at the evening. Winners of the championship in all programs were awarded with cups, official diplomas and medals. All participants received diplomas for participation and memorable souvenirs from organizers. The prize fund of the first Pan American Championship and the first stage of the World Cup was 5000 dollars.

26-02-2018 3rd and 4th rounds of the Сlassic program were held today. After 4 rounds IDF master Reid Wayne (Jamaica) leads with the result of 7 points from 8. Fridman Yigal (Canada) with 6 points is on the second place. Five participants have 5 points each.
After the end of the 4th round, the participants of the Pan American Championship and the World Cup went to the sightseeing bus tour around Montego Bay. See photo.
25-02-2018 Classic program of the 1st Pan American Championship started today. The Classic program is held by the Swiss system in 7 rounds, international/Russian version of draughts-64, micro-matches from two games with a toss of the first move of white, time control 20’+ 10″. 13 players from 6 countries take part in competition.

24-02-2018 Rapid program of the 1st Pan American Championship started today at 9am. The Rapid program is held by the Swiss system in 7 rounds, pool checkers version of draughts-64, micro-matches from two games with a toss of the first move of white, time control 5’+ 3″.
National Grandmaster Alexander Katz (USA) won the Rapid program of the Pan American Championship in draughts-64 with a wide margin. The winner of the Blitz program Thomas Rohan (Jamaica) took second place. Todd Nicholas (Jamaica) is on third place.

23-02-2018 The first champion of Pan America in draughts-64 became the winner of the Blitz program Thomas Rohan (Jamaica). He went around only on the second coefficient of another representative of Jamaica, Reid Wayne, who became a silver medalist. Both sportsmen were participants of the World Championships in draughts-64 2015 and 2017 in St. Petersburg, the winners of national championships .
Bronze medalist is an experienced master of sports from Canada Yigal Fridman.

23-02-2018 The 1st Pan American Championship and the 1st Stage of World Cup 2018 in draughts-64 started today in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The opening of the competitions was held at 9am and the Blitz program of the 1st Pan American Championship started at 10.00. The Blitz program is held by the Swiss system in 7 rounds, in Brazilian version of draughts-64 with time control 3 ‘+ 2 “.
12 players from 6 countries take part in the Pan America Championship: USA, Canada, Jamaica, Haiti, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago. Famous multiple world champion in checkers Ronald King from Barbados came to fight for the title of the first champion of Pan America. Experienced masters of sports from the USA and Canada, as well as participants of the world championships from Jamaica will be compete with him. Unfortunately, at the last moment and the strongest player of Pan America of the last world championships, the international master from Brazil Francisco Marcelo could not take the tickets and not arrived.
