European Men and Women Draughts-64 Championship

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the calendar of the competitions in 2021 holds together with Jõgeva Draughts Club and the Estonian Draughts Union personal-team European Draughts-64 Championship among men and women. Championship is held from September 10 (arrival day) to September 19, 2021 (departure day) in Kuremaa, Jõgeva region (Estonia) and is qualifying for the World Championship 2022. Alexander Shvartsman (Russia) and Vera Khvaschinskaya (Belarus) became European champions 2021 in Rapid. Ihar Mikhalchenka and Palina Petrusiova (both Belarus) became the European champions 2021 in Blitz. Ihar Mikhalchenka and Yana Yakubovich became European champions in draughts-64!

18-09-2021 European Draughts-64 Championship 2021 among men and women completed. The closing ceremony took place at 17.00.

The organizers presented all the participants with commemorative diplomas and awards to people who took an active part in organizing and conducting the competition.

More than 60 players from 13 countries took part in the competition.

The winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded with official awards: cups, medals and diplomas.

The prize fund of the championship, allocated by the International Draughts Federation, amounted to 25,000 US dollars.

16-09-2021 The preliminary stages of the European Draughts-64 Championship among men and women are completed.

For men, Ihar Mikhalchenka (Belarus), Aleksandr Shvartsman (Russia), Arunas Norvaishas, ​​Aleksej Domcev, Andrius Kybartas (all Lithuania), Andrei Valiuk (Belarus), Andrei Kalachnikov and Georgii Taranin (both Russia) got into the final eight.

For women in the final eight are Yana Yakubovich, Vera Khvashchynskaya, Ema Sauras (all Belarus), Maria Gaidarji (Moldova), Kaari Vainonen (Estonia), Milda Jocaite (Lithuania), Zinaida Alexandrov (Israel) and Svetlana Streltsova (Russia).

The  ¼ finals and semi-finals will be held tomorrow.

Participants who took 9th place and below at the preliminary stage will play an additional two rounds on the Swiss system.

14-09-2021 4 rounds of the preliminary stage of the European Draughts-64 Championship were played for men and women.

International grandmasters Ion Dosca (Moldova), Arunas Norvaishas and Andrius Kybartas (both Lithuania) are leading in men with a score of 6 points out of 8 possible. They are chased by 10 players with a score of 5 points.

International grandmaster, reigning world champion Yana Yakubovich (Belarus) is leading among women with a score of 7 points out of 8 possible. Belarusians Vera Khvaschinskaya and Viktoryia Nikalayeva have 6 points each.

Ahead are 4 rounds for men and 3 rounds for women, which will determine the finalists of the European Championship.

13-09-2021 The European Draughts-64 Championship (classic game) started today. The competition are held in 2 stages:
– a preliminary stage according to the Swiss system of 8 rounds for men and 7 rounds for women;
– participants who took the 1st-8th place at the preliminary stage play further three rounds: ¼ finals, semifinal and final, playing two micro-matches in each competition.
Participants who took 9th place and below at the preliminary stage play an additional two rounds on the Swiss system.
No more than 3 players per country are allowed into the final games.

12-09-2021 After the end of the European Blitz Championship, various cultural events were organized for  participants of the championship.

The participants visited the military museum in Jõgeva, and in the evening the participants were invited to the meeting with the mayor, which had already become traditional for the competition in Jõgeva.

11-09-2021 Individual-team European Draughts-64 Championship among men and women started on September 10, 2021 in Kuremaa castle, Jõgeva region (Estonia).

The opening ceremony of the competition took place at 10.00. The participants of the competition were greeted by the vice-mayor of the Jogeva Viktor Svjatõšev, the President of the Estonian Draughts Union Tarmo Tulva, the President of the International Draughts Federation (IDF) Vladimir Langin, multiple world champion in various types of draughts Alexander Shvartsman and Arsis Handbell Ensemble from Tartu.

Vice-mayor of Jogeva Viktor Svjatõšev and IDF President Vladimir Langin made the first symbolic move, launching the European Draughts-64 Championship in 2021.

The European Rapid Championship started at 12.00. 52 players from 13 countries take part in the competition. See current results.

06-09-2021 Individual-team European Draughts-64 Championship among men and women starts on September 10, 2021 in Kuremaa castle, Jõgeva region (Estonia).

14-07-2021 Personal-team European Draughts-64 Championship 2020 among men and women will be held from September 10 (arrival day) to September 19, 2021 (departure day) in the castle of Kuremaa, Lossi 2, Kuremaa, Jõgeva region (Estonia).

Castle Kuremaa well-known for draughts players. Here, the stages of the World Cup in 2018 and 2019 were held at a high level.

European Draughts-64 Championship will be held with the support of the Foundation for Assistance for development of Draughts Sports “Russian Draughts.”

The prize fund of the European Championship will be 25,000 USD.

Competitions will be held separately for men and for women and will be qualifying for the World Championship 2022.

Within the framework of the European Championship following competitions will be held:

European Draughts-64 Championship. Blitz (International/Russian version)
European Draughts-64 Championship. Rapid (Brazilian version)
European Draughts-64 Championship. Classic game (International/Russian version)

Team classification among national federations in all сompetitions will be established. Team composition: men – 3 players (not less than 2 players); women – 2 players.

Admission to the competition, the size of the tournament fees, conditions of the competition and the reception of participants – in accordance with the Regulation of the European Draughts-64 Championship 2021 among men and women.

All participants, coaches and delegation leaders especially from third countries outside the Schengen area must be vaccinated.
