4th Stage of World Cup – International competition “Jogeva-2018”

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2018 from July 30  to August 7, 2018 held in Kuremaa, Jõgeva region (Estonia) 4th Stage of World Cup 2018 in draughts-64- International competition “Jogeva-2018”. Competitions were held in the three types of programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic.

International Grandmaster Andrey Valyuk (Belarus) won Rapid. International Grandmaster Guntis Valneris (Latvia) won Classic and Blitz program. See results, games and standings in the World Cup 2018 after 4 stages.

Regulations of the competition

Place, date

Competitions are held in the castle of Kuremaa at the address: Lossi 2, Kuremaa, Jõgeva region (Estonia) from July 30 (arrival day) to August 7, 2018 (departure day).

Credentials Committee works in the castle of Kuremaa on July 30 from 3 pm to 9 pm.
Opening of the competition is on July 31 at 10.30 am.

Organizers

The organizer of competition is Jõgeva Draughts Club (www.jogevakabeklubi.ee) in cooperation with the Estonian Draughts Union and the International Draughts Federation (IDF).

The main arbiter is Villem Lüüs (Tallinn).

Participants
All participants regardless of gender, age and rating are allowed to participate in the competition, which timely filed an application for participation, registered in accordance with this regulation and paid the tournament fee. The number of participants representing the country is not limited.

Participants must comply with the dress code.
Participants must to be on the opening and closing ceremony of the competition.
In case of absence the closing ceremony, participants lose all official awards. Awards will not be sent or transferred.

Tournament regulations

Competitions are held on the official rules of the IDF.
Competitions are held in the three types of programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic.
In each program, there is a single open tournament for men and women, Swiss system, by the system of micro-matches consist of two games with the drawing according to the official table (745 positions), obligatory in both games of micro-match.

Time control:
Blitz (Brazilian draughts) – 3 minutes till the end of the game + 2 seconds per move;
Rapid (Russian draughts) – 10 minutes till the end of the game + 2 seconds per move;
Classic game (Russian draughts) – 45 minutes till the end of the game + 30 seconds per move. Break between games is 5 minutes. Record of the game is obligatory for all participants before the end of the game.

Determination of the winners

Places of players in each program are determined by the biggest amounts of points. In case of equal points of two or more participants the additional criteria are established by the panel of arbiters according to the regulations of the competition.

In each program winners among men, women, veterans (60+) and juniors up to 20 year (born in 1999 and younger) are determined.

Participants of 4th Stage of World Cup get points in the overall standing of the World Cup in accordance with the Regulations of the World Cup 2018 in draughts-64.

Awards
In each program, winners among men, women, veterans and juniors are awarded cups, medals and diplomas. Participants who took 2nd and 3rd place in each category are awarded with medals and diplomas.
The norms of international titles are established.
Winner of the 4th Stage of the World Cup in classic program automatically receives the international title “International Master”. Participants, who took 2nd and 3rd place, receive the international title  “IDF Master”.
The prize fund of 4th Stage of World Cup is not less than 2 000 euro.
In addition, participants are awarded material prizes.

Finances

All costs of participants paid by sending organizations or yourself.
The costs for organizing the competition and paid by the Organizing Committee.

Tournament fees

Tournament fee is 30 euros, for players from Estonia – 20 euros.
Participants who paid a tournament fee are allowed to participate in all three programs.
The tournament fee must be transferred before July 1, 2018 to the bank account of the Jõgeva Draughts Club:

Accommodation and meals

Accommodation is in a guest house Kuremaa Külalistemaja.
Booking must be made in advance with the registration before July 01, 2018.
Meals are possible in café near the guest house.

General Issues

All issues not covered in this regulation are governed by the IDF Rules of the game and competitions or are decided by the Main Arbiter of the tournament and the Jõgeva Draughts Club.

 

20-08-2018  The tournament games are published on the website of the Jõgeva Draughts Club (www.jogevakabeklubi.ee).

06-08-2018 Blitz was held today. Competitions were held according to the Brazilian version of draughts-64, on the Swiss system in 9 rounds, by the system of micro-matches from two games with draws of moves and positions according to the official IDF table (745 positions) with time control 3’+ 2″ for each participant until the end of the game. See current results.

The winner of the Blitz with a score of 17 points from 18 became an International Grandmaster Guntis Valneris (Latvia). International Grandmaster Andrius Kybartas (Lithuania) took second place. International Grandmaster Arunas Norvaisas (Lithuania) took the third place.

Winners in different categories are: among women – Maria Kriskevich (Russia), among veterans – Alexander Bleicher (Germany), among juniors – Kirill Dublin (Russia).


05-08-2018 The winner of the Сlassic program with a score of 15 points became an International Grandmaster Guntis Valneris (Latvia). With a score of 14 points the International Grandmaster Andrey Valyuk (Belarus) is on the second place. 3-6 place with the result of 12 points was shared by 4 participants. The best coefficient and 3rd place have the International Grandmaster Arunas Norvaisas (Lithuania).

Winners in different categories are: among women – Antra Valneré (Latvia), among veterans – Alexander Bleicher (Germany), among juniors – Andrei Usmanov (Russia).


04-08-2018 After 7 rounds before the last day of the classic program with the score of 12 points, the International Grandmaster Guntis Valneris (Latvia) is still leading. International Grandmaster Andrey Valyuk and International Master Dmitrii Melnikov (Russia) have 11 points. The fate of the prize places will be decided in the 8th and 9th rounds, which will be held on August 5.

Leaders in different categories are: among women – Antra Valneré (Latvia), among veterans – Uno Plakk (Estonia), among juniors – Andrei Usmanov (Russia).


04-08-2018 Organizers of the tournament in Jõgeva traditionally provided a large cultural program for the participants of the competition.

On August 3, a meeting of the participants with the mayor of Jõgeva Region Aare Olgo was held, and on August 4 excursions to the military museum, the museum of the ice age and the zoo were held.

02-08-2018 After four rounds of the classic program with a 100% result (8 points), International Grandmaster Guntis Valneris (Latvia) is leading. International Grandmaster Andrey Valyuk with 7 points is on the second place. Eight players have 6 points each.

01-08-2018  Classic program started. Competitions are held according to the international / Russian version of the draughts-64, on the Swiss system in 9 rounds, by the system of micro matches from two games with draws and positions according to the official IDF table (745 positions) with time control 45 ‘+ 30 ” for each participant until the end of the game. 38 players from 8 countries participated.

31-07-2018 Rapid was held today. Competitions were held according to the international / Russian version of draughts-64, on the Swiss system in 7 rounds, by the system of micro-matches from two games with draws of moves and positions according to the official IDF table (745 positions) with time control 10 ‘+ 2 ” for each participant until the end of the game.

41 participant played prizes in all categories. Results:

2nd place – IGM Arunas Norvaishas (Lithuania)
3rd place – IGM Guntis Valneris (Latvia)

31-07-2018  4th Stage of World Cup 2018 in draughts-64 – International competition “Jogeva-2018” started. A press conference was held at 10.00. The President IDF Vladimir Langin; the Vice President of the Estonian Draughts Federation Arno Uutma; the Mayor of Jõgeva region Aare Olgo, the organizer of the tournament and the Chairman of the Board of the Jõgeva Draughts Club Yular Poom; International Grandmaster, the 5-time champion of the tournament in Jõgeva Guntis Valneris took part in the press conference.

 

Opening of the competition took place at 10.30. The representative of the Estonian Draughts Federation Viktoria Lehmets read the greetings of the President of the Estonian Draughts Federation Tarmo Tulva. IDF President Vladimir Langin and Mayor of Jõgeva Region Aare Olgo made their first moves on the draughts board and  announced the start of the competition.

Competitions are held in the three types of programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic. In each program, winners among men, women, veterans (60 years and older) and juniors (1999 and younger) are determinated.
