Online Draughts-64 Tournaments within the framework of the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO)

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) held 9 and 16 August 2020 at the online Gambler platform Online Draughts-64 Tournaments within the framework of the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO).
For the first time, Draughts-64 were presented at the famous Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO), which has been held in London since 1997. This year, in connection with the coronavirus the Olympiad was held online.
As part of the Olympiad, 4 online Draughts-64 Tournaments were held: open tournaments and tournaments among boys and girls up to 17 years in Russian and Brazilian draughts with offset by age groups.
The participation of draughts-64 in such a significant and famous Mind Sports Olympiad is very prestigious and will become another step in the promotion of draughts-64 in the world. Results of tournaments within the 2020 Mind Sports Olympiad (MSO) have been published.

30-08-2020 The Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO) has been successfully completed. This year, in connection with the coronavirus the Olympiad was held online. The competition was a grandiose success! The new format of the competition allowed a large number of athletes from around the world to take part in this event. More than 90 tournaments in 60 intellectual games were held within the framework of the Olympiad including 4 tournaments in draughts-64.

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) thanks the organizers of the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO) for the excellently organized event, the successful promotion of mind games in the world and bringing together people from different countries and continents. In a difficult time of a pandemic, this largest international event gave people the opportunity to do what they love, express themselves, replenish their knowledge and improve their skills, meet and establish contacts with lovers of intellectual games from different countries of the world. This will certainly have a positive effect on the popularization, development and promotion intellectual games in the world.

19-08-2020 Draughts-64 tournaments within the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO) completed. The competitions were a great success.

More than 550 athletes from 34 countries of Europe, Africa, Asia and Pan America took part in this prestigious event.

The world’s strongest athletes took part in the competition. Among them are world champions Arunas Norvaishas (Lithuania) and Dmitry Tsinman (Russia), world champions 2019 in the Russian national team Dmitry Melnikov and Andrey Gnelitsky, prize-winners of world championships Petr Chernyshev and Alexander Getmansky, multiple world champion among women Elena Scovitina (Moldova), multiple world champion among veterans Yuri Kirillov (Israel), world champion 2018 in the national team of Belarus Sergei Sadovsky, champion of Asia Samandar Kalanov (Uzbekistan), champions of Africa 2018 in different programs Lukanga Mwambwe (Zambia), Enock Makoka Banda (Malawi) and Senoga Sam (Uganda); champion of Pan America 2018 (blitz) Thomas Rohan; one of the strongest players of Brazil international master Augusto Carvalho, champions of different countries and other famous athletes.

The participation of draughts-64 in such a significant and famous Mind Sports Olympiad has become another step in the popularization and promotion of draughts-64 in the world.

17-08-2020 On August 16, Russian draughts tournaments within the framework of the Mind Sports Olympics 2020 (MSO) were held. Representatives from 32 countries from Europe, Africa, Asia and Pan America took part in the competitions.

In the open tournament, 186 athletes entered the start. The strongest players in the nominations among men, women, veterans and juniors under 20 were determined. The winners of the open tournament were Russian grandmasters Nikita Slavyanov from Moscow among men and Nika Leopoldova from St. Petersburg among women.

10-08-2020 Brazilian Draughts Tournaments within the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO) are completed. Representatives of 30 countries from Europe, Africa, Asia and Pan America took part in this prestigious competition. This is a great success for Brazilian draughts and for draughts-64 in general.

120 athletes competed in the open tournament for the victory in the nominations among men, women, veterans and juniors under 20. The winners of the open tournament were Ageikin Artem (Russia) among men and Zaruba Cristina (Moldova) among women.

31-07-2020 Registration for tournaments continues. Registration consists of 2 stages.

  1. Participants must register in advance on the Gambler platform (see Registration procedure).
  2. Participants must fill in special Google forms to register for the tournaments.

The data must be complete and correct.

For those who have no experience of playing on the Gambler platform, or are not confident in their abilities, the organizers will hold training tournaments in Brazilian and Russian draughts. The competition will be held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds, micro-matches, 3’+2″, draw of the initial moves. Players of any qualification registered on the Gambler platform with the filled in data are invited.

In addition, thanks to the efforts of Vitaly Kamynin, daily Brazilian draughts tournaments will now be held on the Gambler platform. The tournaments will alternate – those that start at 18.00 MSK will be held in classic draughts without a draw. 01-07-2020 The online Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO) started on August 1, as part of which the International Draughts Federation (IDF) holds online draughts-64 competitions on the Gambler platform on August 9 and 16, 2020. Draughts-64 will be presented for the first time at the famous Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO), which has been held in London since 1997.

Tournament Regulations

– All tournaments are held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds.
– Participants play by the system of micro-matches from two games.
– Time control for each game is 3 minutes per game + 2 seconds per move for each participant.
– The duration of each tournament is 3 hours.
– Open Draughts-64 Tournaments are held with a draw of the initial moves and positions of the Gambler site for -Russian/Brazilian draughts.
– Youth Draughts-64 Tournaments are held in classic draughts without a draw of the initial moves and positions.

Participants

– In open tournaments, the declared players any age and gender who have titles not lower than a candidate for master of sports are allowed for countries where the norms of national titles are established. For countries where the norms of national titles are not established, all declared players are allowed.

– In youth tournaments, all declared players (boys and girls born January 1, 2004 and later) are allowed.

Registration

All participants who are not registered on the Gambler platform must register in advance there.

All participants must indicate on their card the following data: last name, first name, date of birth, title /rank, city and country of residence, coach (if available).

All data must be filled in Latin letters.
The data on the card must be complete and correct.
The International Draughts Federation will check the details of the participants.
Participants with incomplete data or data that will not be confirmed will not be admitted to tournaments.

Registration for tournaments is held in 2 stages.

Pre-registration:

Participants fill out special Google forms (published above):

– no later than 8th August for participation in Brazilian draughts tournaments
– no later than 15th August for participation in Russian draughts tournaments.

Participants indicate in Google form for each tournament their reliable data:
last name, first name, date of birth, title/rank (if available), city and country of residence, coach (if available), Gambler nickname (nickname must contain all the participant’s data) and e-mail for feedback.
All data must be filled in Latin letters.

Registration for the tournament

After filling out the Google form and inclusion in the lists of relevant tournaments, participants will be able to register on the day of the game and join their tournament in accordance with the schedule and a link to the tournament.

Links to tournaments will be announced later.

Summarizing the competition

– Places of participants are determined by the highest total points scored.
– In case of equality of points, places are determined according to additional criteria that are used for tournaments on the Gambler platform.
– According to the results of competitions, winners and prize-winners are determined in the following categories:

Open tournament

– 3 best men
– 3 best women
– 3 best players in Asia, Africa and Pan America
– 3 best 60+ veterans-men (on the day the tournament starts)
– 3 best 60+ veterans-women (on the day the tournament starts)
– 3 best juniors-boys up to 20 years (born January 1, 2001 and later)
– 3 best juniors-girls up to 20 years (born January 1, 2001 and later)

Youth tournament

– 3 best boys up to 17 years (born in 2004-2006)
– 3 best girls up to 17 years (born in 2004-2006)
– 3 best boys up to 14 years (born in 2007-2009)
– 3 best girls up to 14 years (born in 2007-2009)

Awarding

Winners and prize-winners in all categories are awarded diplomas.
All participants receive commemorative diplomas.
Additional prizes will be announced before the start of the competition.

Game fairness control

By registering to participate in the tournament, the participant confirms that he/she will play honestly and will not use any devices, computer programs or other people’s tips for prompting.

A special commission will be created. Commission will include at least one representative from three groups:

– grandmasters or strong masters,
– experienced Gambler platform gamers
– specialists in the field of programming logical games.

Reasonable protests against suspicion of cheating are submitted by e-mail [email protected] within one hour after the end of the tournament.

According to the results of consideration of protests, cheaters can be disqualified without the possibility of appeals.
Their places are excluded from the final distribution of places in the tournament.
