Traditional draughts tournament “V. Sokov Memorial” in St. Petersburg completed

From November 30 (arrival day) to December 8 (departure day) 2019 in St. Petersburg (Russia), a traditional open draughts-64 tournament in memory of the legendary St. Petersburg draughts player Vasily Sokov “V. A. Sokov Memorial” is held. As part of the competition, all-Russian competitions are held among men and women, as well as among boys and girls in age groups up to 17, 14, 11 and 9 years old.

08-12-2019  V. Sokov Memorial 2019 successfully completed. On December 7, after the Blitz program, closing ceremony of the competition was held. Winners of each program in all categories: men, women, veterans, juniors up to 20 years old, boys and girls up to 17, 14, 11 and 9 years old were awarded cups, medals and diplomas. In the team competition, the team-champion was awarded the cup, the teams – prize-winners and their members were awarded diplomas. All participats received commemorative gifts.

The prize fund of the competition was 150,000 rubles.


07-12-2019 The Blitz program of the V. Sokov Memorial took place today. 173 players from 18 regions and 25 cities of Russia took part in the competition. 6 grandmasters and 14 masters of sports took part in competitions among men and women.

In the competitions among men and women, as in the classic program, the ex-world champion, international grandmaster Sergey Belosheev from Evpatoria, won.

The best among women was the international grandmaster Nika Leopoldova from St. Petersburg.
Former world champion, international grandmaster Yuri Korolev from Tula was the best among veterans.

In youth competitions, the winners are:

among boys – representatives of the Moscow Region Volkov Maksim (boys under 17 years old), Baranov Dmitry (boys under 14 years old), Mironov Vladislav (boys under 11 years old), Sharov Dmitry (boys under 9 years old);

among girls – Zolotova Anastasia from the Rostov Region (girls under 17 years old), Vertlin Marta (girls under 14 years old) and Maksimova Daria from Nizhny Novgorod (girls under 11 years old), Razumovskaia Anna from the Moscow region (girls under 9 years old).

06-12-2019 Classic program of the V. Sokov Memorial completed today. All competitions were held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds, according to the system of micro-matches from 2 games with a time control of 40 minutes +10 sec / per move for each participant.

In competitions among men and women with a score of 15 points of 18, the ex-world champion, international grandmaster Sergey Belosheev from Evpatoria, won a landslide victory.

The best among women was Druzhinina Ksenia from St. Petersburg.

The winners in youth competitions were: Dmitry Baranov from the Moscow region (boys under 17 and 14 years old), Boris Gavrilov from Moscow (boys under 11 and 9 years old), Imaikina Miloslava from Perm region (girls under 17 and 14 years old), Tatiana Egorova from St. Petersburg (girls under 11 and 9 years old).

In the team standings, the best was the team from Stupino, Moscow Region, consisting of Dmitry Baranov, Dmitry Sharov, Andrey Fefelov and Anna Razumovskaia.

Sokov Memorial” started today in St. Petersburg (Russia), in the premises of the school for chess and draughts at the address: St. Petersburg, st. Bolshaya Konyushennaya d. 25 (famous Chigorin club).

As part of the Memorial, competitions are held among men and women and competitions among boys and girls up to 17, 14, 11 and 9 years old.

The opening of the competition took place at 12.00 and at 13.00 the classic program started. 171 players from 16 regions and 23 cities of Russia take part in competition.

5 grandmasters and 13 masters of sports take part in competitions among men and women. The strongest of them are world champions of different years Sergei Belosheev and Yuri Korolev, world championship medalist, multiple world and European champion among veterans Nikolai Abatsiev (Moscow), Russian champion 2019 Nikolai Makarov (Moscow region), winner of the 2019 World Cup Dmitrii Melnikov (St. Petersburg).

Bolshaya Konyushennaya d. 25 (Gostiny Dvor metro station, exit to Nevsky Prospekt), a traditional open draughts tournament in memory of the legendary St. Petersburg draughts player Vasily Sokov “V. A. Sokov Memorial” is held.

As part of the competition, two separate all-Russian competitions are held:

1. Competitions among men and women.

2. Youth competitions in age groups:
– boys and girls up to 17 years old (2003-2005);
– boys and girls under 14 years old (2006-2008);
– boys and girls under 11 years old (born in 2009-2010);
– boys and girls up to 9 years old (born in 2011 and younger)

In youth competitions a team classification is established. Team composition is 3 boys and 1 girl.

Russian participants are allowed to participate in the competitions in accordance with the Regulation of Interregional and All-Russian Official Sports Draughts Competitions for 2019 and foreign participants, regardless of gender, age and rating, who timely submitted an application for participation, registered on time and paid the tournament fee.

All competitions are held in two programs: classic and Blitz. In each program, the system is Swiss, 7-9 rounds, according to the system of micro-matches from two games.

Time control:
Blitz program – 3 minutes + 2 sec / per move for each participant;
Classic program – 40 minutes +10 sec / per move for each participant, a break between games of 5 minutes, recording of moves is required until the end of the game.

Competitions among men and women are held with the draw of moves and positions according to the official table (745 positions), mandatory in both games of the micro-match.

In each program for men and women, winners and prize-winners are determined among men, women, veterans 60 years and older (born 1959 and older) and juniors under 20 years old (born 2000 and younger).
The norms of international titles are established.
The prize fund of competitions is not less than 150 000 Russian rubles (~2000 Euro).

Competitions among boys and girls are held in classic Russian draughts with the determination of winners and prize winners among boys and girls in age groups 2003-2005, 2006-2008, 2009-2010, 2011 and younger.

In the team standings, the places of teams are determined by the highest total points scored by all team members. In case of equality of points for two or more teams, the places of teams are determined by the smallest sum of places occupied by all team members.

 

Vasily SokovVasily Sokov, champion of the USSR 1938-41′s, was born December 26, 1912 in Yaroslavl region, died March 3, 1944 in the Battle near Narva (Estonia). Most of his life he lived in Leningrad. Vasily Sokov was a very strong player, magician of draughts, the founder of the progressive Soviet school of draughts art, consummate theorist and innovator, humble and helpful people – so he will remain forever in the hearts of lovers of our folk game.

Draughts tournament memory Vasily Sokov for many years are held in St. Petersburg as a tribute to the memory of a champion.
