From April 4 to 7, 2019 in the city of Tartu (Estonia), the 71st Estonian Championship among men and the 63rd Estonian Championship among women in Russian draughts were held. The men’s championship was open. Except for Estonians two representatives of Russia took part in it. The winner of the men’s championship was an international master from Russia Kalachnikov Andrey. The international grandmaster Uutma Arno became the Estonian men’s champion. Master of Sports Unnuk Argo took 2nd place, Väärtnõu Urmas was the third.
In women, the experienced Wiirma Piret became the Estonian women’s champion. She won an additional match against Kuusik Karmen, who finished on 2nd place. Two players took third place – multiple Estonian champion Vainonen Kaari and young Estonian champion of last year Jalg Merilii. (more…)

International Draughts Federation (IDF) together with the Finnish Draughts Association «Tammipelin ystävät ry» in accordance with the calendar of the IDF competitions 2019 for the first time held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, International competition in draughts-64 “Helsinki-2019”. Competitions were held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Helsinki. International master Anton Smirnov won the competitions.  See results. (more…)

In Moldova’s capital, Chisinau from March 22 to 30, 2019 the Moldovan Men’s Championship was held. The championship was held in three programs: Classic, Blitz and Rapid.

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of competitions in 2019 held from 23 to 31 March 2019 in Tbilisi (Georgia) 1st Stage of World Cup 2019 in draughts-64 – International competition “Georgia-2019”. Competitions were held in three programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic.

International master Dmitrii Melnikov won Blitz and Classic program. International master Andrei Gnelitsky won Rapid. See results.

The Uzbekistan Championships in draughts-64 among boys and girls in the age groups up to 20, 17, 14, 11, 9 years old were held from March 1 to March 7, 2019 in the capital of Uzbekistan Tashkent. Competitions were held in three programs: Blitz, Rapid and Classic.

The Jamaica Draughts Association concluded it’s National Draughts Championship 2019 which was held on March 6, 2019 at the JPS Sports Club in Kingston. The championship was qualifying for the World Draughts-64 Championship. Players from across the island turn out in their numbers to compete in a bid to secure the coveted title of Jamaica’s National Champion in Draughts-64 2019. The legendary Jamaican player, Pan American Champion 2018, international Grandmaster Wayne ‘Shines’ Reid became National Draughts-64 Champion. Top 3 players will represent Jamaica at the World Draughts-64 Championship. Youth Championship of Republic of Belarus among boys and girls up to 9 years old was held from 2 to 3 March 2019 at the Chess and Draughts Sports School in the city of Minsk, capital of Belarus. 67 players took part in the competition. The winners were Minskers Alexey Pavliuchenka and Neli Kurtava. Final of Israeli Men Championship in Russian draughts ended March 2, 2019 in the city of Haifa. 14 participants played the title of champion of the country in the robin round system. The international master Dmitry Ganopolsky became the Israeli champion 2019. (more…)
