2nd Stage of World Cup – International competition “Rimini-2017”

International Draughts Federation IDF in accordance with the calendar of the competitions 2017 holds in Rimini (Italy) from 24 June to 1 July 2nd Stage of World Cup 2017 in draughts-64-International competition “Rimini-2017”.

Winner of the Rapid program in Italian draughts became International Grandmaster Dmitry Tsinman. Vladimir Skrabov became the winner of the Blitz in Brazilian draughts. Arunas Norvaisas won classic program.

Wayne ‘Shines’ Reid won the 1st Jamaica Draughts Association National Championship

On June 25, in the city of Kingston, capital of Jamaica, the Jamaica Draughts Association hosted the 1st Jamaica Draughts Association National Championship 2017. The championship was held in two programs – classic (Russian version) and Rapid (Jamaican version) and was the qualifier for the World Draughts-64  Championship, which will be held in October in St. Petersburg (Russia). Calendar 2017 updated

Calendar 2017 updated. New competitions were added.
Given the positive feedback on the holding of the European Championship 2016, Stage of World Cup the first time will be held in Tbilisi (Georgia). Dates of the competition are from 5 to 12 November.
From 19 to 24 December in Eilat (Israel) under the auspices of IDF will take place the International Draughts-64 tournament.

International Draughts Federation together with Portuguese Draughts Federation in accordance with the calendar of the competitions 2017 conducted from 3rd June (arrival day) to 10 June (departure day) 2017 in Albufeira (Portugal) 1st Stage of World Cup 2017 in draughts-64-International competition “Portugal-2017”. Match Portugal against the whole world won the team of the world. Tiago Manuel won Rapid. News from Uganda

On June 4, for the first time, in Gulu was held the National Draughts Championship, organized by the Uganda Draughts Federation (UDF). 38 players from 4 regions took part in the competitions. Competitions were held on a Swiss system in 7 rounds with a time control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds per move. The winner of the tournament became participant of the World Championship 2013 Sam Senoga. Bronze medalist of the Rapid program of African championship 2016 Isaac Bafaki took second place and George William Omaya took third place.   (more…)

Championships of Belarus among men and women

Championships of Belarus in draughts-64 among men and women (final) were held from 22 till 30 May 2017 in the Republican Center of Olympic training for chess and draughts (Minsk, str. of Marks, 10).

Draughts events in Loo (Sochi)

Several major draughts events traditionally are held in the period from May 28 to June 9  in the boarding house “Akvaloo” (Krasnodar Region, Sochi):

1. Russian Youth Championship in Russian draughts among school teams «Miracle draughts». Final.
Two teams from each region of the Russian Federation may participate in competitions. The team consists of five people: three boys and one girl under the age of 14 years (2003 year born and younger) from one secondary school and one representative of the team. 32 teams from 25 regions of Russia participated.

4th National Championship of Malawi was held at Chisale Motel, Nchesi Township in the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe. 32 players who qualified from all regions of Malawi including two Masters Moses Winesi and Enock Makoka Banda participated in the championship. (more…)

Short report of IDF Board meeting

May 15, 2017 in St. Petersburg was held a meeting of the IDF Board. Short report of the IDF Board meeting see HERE. The rules of the World Team Championship were approved, the preparations for the World Championship 2017 and World Cup stages in Portugal and Italy were discussed, the results of the Asian Championships and the European Youth Championship were approved. Issues of the current activity of the federation, contacts with international organizations were considered.

According to the results of the competition in 2017: the Asian Championship in Tashkent, the European Youth Championship in Orel and the implementation of norms in the various competitions, new international titles been assigned to the next players and arbiters: (more…)

Elias Munkondia won Zambian Rapid Championship

The National Rapid Championship of Zambia (pool checkers) was held in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka from 12 to 14 May. 21 player took part in the competition. Players were divided into 3 subgroups A, B and C, then they were distributed according to occupied places in the preliminary stage and continued the struggle for victory in the championship.

Champion of Zambia 2017 in Rapid became the silver prize-winner of the first African championship 2016 in Rapid Elias Munkondia. Kennedy Phiri took second place and Peter Mulenga is on the third place. (more…)
