The International Draughts Federation (IDF) held 9 and 16 August 2020 at the online Gambler platform Online Draughts-64 Tournaments within the framework of the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO).
For the first time, Draughts-64 were presented at the famous Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 (MSO), which has been held in London since 1997. This year, in connection with the coronavirus the Olympiad was held online.
As part of the Olympiad, 4 online Draughts-64 Tournaments were held: open tournaments and tournaments among boys and girls up to 17 years in Russian and Brazilian draughts with offset by age groups.
The participation of draughts-64 in such a significant and famous Mind Sports Olympiad is very prestigious and will become another step in the promotion of draughts-64 in the world. Results of tournaments within the 2020 Mind Sports Olympiad (MSO) have been published. (more…)

The First online African Draughts-64 Championship was held 27 June 2020
The African Draughts Federation (ADF) together with the International Draughts Federation (IDF) will host the first online African Draughts-64 Championship on 27 June 2020.
The first online African Draughts-64 Championship is completed. This historic Championship was held on the PlayOk online platform and brought together 60 players.
Clifford Tsamba (Zimbabwe) became the champion of Africa! Congratulations!
Latvian Youth Draughts-64 Championship was held in Riga
From June 17 to 21, the first competition after the break in connection with the coronavirus was held in Latvia – the Latvian Youth Draughts-64 Championship among boys and girls in the age groups U8, U10, U13, U16 and U19/U26.
Competitions were qualifying for the youth World and European championships. 90 best young players, representing all the strongest players of Latvia, fought for the titles of champions in Classic program and over 140 players in the Blitz program.

Online Tournament of Friendship in Brazilian draughts was held on June 7
Online Tournament of Friendship in Brazilian draughts was held on June 7, on the online platform PlayOk (website https://www.playok.com/). Tournament was organized by our Brazilian colleagues.
The tournament was held according to the Swiss system in 7 rounds, micro-matches from 2 games, draw of moves and positions, time control 3’+ 2”.
72 players from 10 countries took part in the tournament.
Jonel Eidelman (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) became the winner of the tournament. Olga Beller (Ufa, Russia) was the best among women. See the results.

IDF President Vladimir Langin gave a session of simultaneous game to the Russian Navy
To the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory!
On May 23, in St. Petersburg (Russia), in the building of the Main Admiralty, the main headquarters of the Navy of the Russian Federation (Navy), a session of simultaneous game in Russian draughts, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, was held.
The session was held on 26 boards: 20 boards in the format of online video conferencing and 6 boards in the offline format. The session was attended by the strongest draughts players of all Navy fleets: the Baltic, Black Sea, Northern, Pacific fleets and the Caspian flotilla. All participants were qualified athletes. The Organising Committee of the 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games 2020 would like to inform you that, given the current challenges and uncertainties that the world is facing related to COVID-19, decision has been made to postpone the event, initially planned on 1 – 7 October 2020, to 2021.
The 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games will now take place on 18 – 24 June 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal. The entire competition program and conditions for participation remain unchanged. More details HERE

The first such online tournament is the Victory Cup in Draughts-64, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is held on May 9 and 10. Competitions are held in close collaboration with the Draughts Federation of St. Petersburg.
