To the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory!

On May 23, in St. Petersburg (Russia), in the building of the Main Admiralty, the main headquarters of the Navy of the Russian Federation (Navy), a session of simultaneous game in Russian draughts, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, was held.

The session was held on 26 boards: 20 boards in the format of online video conferencing and 6 boards in the offline format. The session was attended by the strongest draughts players of all Navy fleets: the Baltic, Black Sea, Northern, Pacific fleets and the Caspian flotilla. All participants were qualified athletes. The Organising Committee of the 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games 2020 would like to inform you that, given the current challenges and uncertainties that the world is facing related to COVID-19, decision has been made to postpone the event, initially planned on 1 – 7 October 2020, to 2021.

The 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games will now take place on 18 – 24 June 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal. The entire competition program and conditions for participation remain unchanged. More details  HERE

Thus, the Draughts-64 events included in the program of the 7th TAFISA World Sports for All Games 2020 will be held June 18-24, 2021 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) launches online draughts-64 tournaments on the PlayOk platform (https://www.playok.com/).

The first such online tournament is the Victory Cup in Draughts-64, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which is held on May 9 and 10. Competitions are held in close collaboration with the Draughts Federation of St. Petersburg.

Dear friends!

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) monitors the situation with the coronavirus pandemic in Europe and the world. Now no one can predict how the situation will develop in the near future, but we hope that over the next two to three months the spread of this virus will be significantly reduced in all countries.

We understand that health is the most valuable and most important thing that can be in the life of every person. Therefore, the European Youth Championship and the 1st stage of the 2020 World Cup, scheduled from May 2 to May 9, 2020 in Kobuleti (Georgia), are postponed to a later date. (more…)

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) informs you that due to the Corona-virus pandemic, the difficult epidemiological situation, government restrictions on the movement of people in the United States and closed for many countries travel to the U.S., the International Draughts Tournament Miami Open scheduled from 2 to April 7 in the city of Miami (USA) have been postponed to a later date, presumably to October-November 2020. The final of the Lithuanian Draughts-64 Championship among men (International/Russian version) was held in the capital of Lithuania Vilnius from March 11 to 15. In the final of the Lithuanian Championship 9 players took part, among them 5 of the strongest international grandmasters and 1 international master.

International Grandmaster and former world champion Arunas Norvaishas became the champion of Lithuania 2020.

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2020 together with Georgian United National Draughts Federation during the European Youth Championship holds  from May 4 to May 10, 2020 in Kobuleti (Georgia) 1^st Stage of World Cup 2020 – International Draughts-64 Competition “Georgia-2020”. Competitions will be held in two types of program: Blitz and Classic.

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2020 together with Georgian United National Draughts Federation holds from May 2 to May 10, 2020 personal-team European Youth Draughts-64 Championship 2020. Competitions will be held separately for boys and girls in six age groups and in the three types of program: Blitz, Rapid and Classic. Invitation published.

In the capital of Latvia, Riga, the National Draughts-64 Championships among men and women in Classic and Rapid game were held. All championships were held according to the international/Russian version of draughts-64.

The finals of the Latvian championships among men and women were held from January 23 to 26. In each championship, 10 participants played in a Robin Round system with a time control of 30’+ 30″.

The champions of Latvia 2020 were the international grandmaster Guntis Valneris among men and IDF master Regina Pironena among women. (more…)
