International competition in draughts-64 for the first time was held in Armenia

International Draughts Federation (IDF) and the Draughts Federation of Armenia in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2018 conducted from May 27 (arrival day) till June 3, 2018 (departure day) in the capital of Armenia Yerevan International competition in draughts-64 “Armenia – 2018”. Competitions were held in two program: Blitz and Classic.

International master and national grandmaster Dmitrii Melnikov won classic program. International master Ruslan Peshcherov won Blitz. See results and updates.

Men Championship of Moldova

In Moldova’s capital, Chisinau from May 21 to 29, 2018 the Moldovan Men’s Championship was held. The championship was held in three programs: Classic, Blitz and Rapid.

European Youth Championship 2018

International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2018 from April 29 (arrival day) to May 08, 2018 (departure day) at the Sports Complex “Aqua Life”, Kranevo (Bulgaria) conducted personal-team European Youth Draughts-64 Championship 2018. Competitions were held with the support of the Foundation for Promotion of Draughts Sports “Russian Draughts”.

Competitions in Uzbekistan

Blitz tournament dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous Uzbek master Sharifjon Yakubov, was held on May 9 in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. Strongest grandmasters and masters of Uzbekistan took part in competition. Ex-world champion, international grandmaster Markiel Fazylov specially came to the tournament from Israel, where he now lives. International Draughts Federation (IDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2018 holds August-September 2018 in Kranevo (Bulgaria) series of draughts events. Among them are world championships among boys, girls and veterans, world team championship, as well as the IDF Reporting and Elective General Assembly and the European Championship among men and women. Malawi 5th National Championship

Malawi 5th National Championship was held from 6 to 9 April at Sibwenison Park of Blantyre. 36 players took part in the competition. Championship was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. International master Moses Winesi with the result of 16 points became the champion of Malawi 2018. Humble C Bondo took second place and IDF master Enock Banda on additional criteria was the third. The championship was the qualifier for the African Championship, which will be held in Blantyre, Malawi, from 8 to 14 July 2018. See results and tournament report. (more…)

Zambia Draughts-64 Championship was held in Lusaka

Zambia Draughts Federation (ZDF) 2018 National Draughts-64 Championship which is held once per year and this year it was conducted from 30th March, 2018 to 2nd April, 2018 at Justin Kabwe Primary School in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka under the supervision of Mr. Raphael Phiri as Tournament Referee together with the Zambia Draughts Federation National Executive Comiittee. The championship was the qualifier for the African Championship 2018. Elias Munkondia became Zambian National Champion 2018. The city youth championships among boys and girls under 14 were held in Yerevan

From March 18 to 27, the city of Yerevan hosted the city’s youth championships in draughts-64 among boys and girls under 14.
Total 120 players participated in the final stages of the championships, the press service of the national federation reports. Prize-winners:
Boys: 1. Hayk Azoyan – 7 points; 2. Artak Sahradyan – 7 points; 3. Raphael Ordyan – 5.5 points.
Girls: 1. Victoria Isakhanyan – 6 points; 2. Karine Morayan – 5,5 points; 3. Ani Tatoyan – 5.5 points. (more…)
