In an effort to continue promoting draughts sport in Malawi and Africa at large The Association of Draughts in Malawi (ADMA) invites Zambia youth talented player William Chizewe to Marathon games that will take place from 12 January to 18 January 2022 in Blantyre and Lilongwe.

While in Malawi, young rising African star William Chizewe won intermational masters Enock Banda and Moses Winesi; and drew with IDF master Madalitso Thom.

Traditional tournaments in Saarbrücken, Germany, completed

From 19 to 21 November 2021 in Saarbrücken (Germany) the following traditional draughts competitions were held:
a) 11th German Open Championship (November 20 – 21, 2021), Brazilian draughts.
b) 15th International Saarbrücken – Open 100 Draughts Tournament (November 19 – 20, 2021).

The winner of both tournaments was the international grandmaster from Lithuania Aleksej Domcev. IDF master Alexander Bleicher became the winner of the 11th German Draughts-64 Championship.

International competition “Portugal-2021” – stage of the 2021 World Cup in Albufeira completed

The International Draughts Federation (IDF) together with the Portuguese Draughts Federation (PDF) in accordance with the Calendar of the IDF and PDF competitions 2021 held from 20th to 27th November 2021 in Albufeira (Portugal) International competition “Portugal – 2021” – Stage of the World Cup 2021 in draughts-64. Competitions were held in three programs – classic, Blitz and Rapid.
Within the framework of the competition, a match in Portuguese draughts was traditionally held: the national team of Portugal against the team of the world, in which the national team of Portugal won with a score of 13:11.
National Grandmaster Tiago Manuel from Portugal won Rapid program. International Master Georgii Taranin from Russia won Blitz and Classic program. (more…)

In 2022, the 1st Pergament Foundation International Invitational Tournament in Draughts-64 will be held in Lithuania

The Board of Directors of the Pergament Foundation for Draughts-64 in cooperation with the International Draughts Federation (IDF) and the Lithuanian Draughts Federation holds the 1st Pergament Foundation International Invitational Tournament in Draughts-64 from May 31 to June 10, 2022 at the Vilnius Grand Resort hotel in Vilnius, Lithuania.

24 players on a personal list approved by the Board of Directors of the Foundation will take part in the tournament.

The prize fund of the tournament will be $ 35,000. (more…)
