Malawi 5th National Championship

Malawi 5th National Championship was held from 6 to 9 April at Sibwenison Park of Blantyre. 36 players took part in the competition. Championship was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. International master Moses Winesi with the result of 16 points became the champion of Malawi 2018. Humble C Bondo took second place and IDF master Enock Banda on additional criteria was the third. The championship was the qualifier for the African Championship, which will be held in Blantyre, Malawi, from 8 to 14 July 2018. See results and tournament report. (more…)

Zambia Draughts-64 Championship was held in Lusaka

Zambia Draughts Federation (ZDF) 2018 National Draughts-64 Championship which is held once per year and this year it was conducted from 30th March, 2018 to 2nd April, 2018 at Justin Kabwe Primary School in the capital of Zambia, Lusaka under the supervision of Mr. Raphael Phiri as Tournament Referee together with the Zambia Draughts Federation National Executive Comiittee. The championship was the qualifier for the African Championship 2018. Elias Munkondia became Zambian National Champion 2018. The city youth championships among boys and girls under 14 were held in Yerevan

From March 18 to 27, the city of Yerevan hosted the city’s youth championships in draughts-64 among boys and girls under 14.
Total 120 players participated in the final stages of the championships, the press service of the national federation reports. Prize-winners:
Boys: 1. Hayk Azoyan – 7 points; 2. Artak Sahradyan – 7 points; 3. Raphael Ordyan – 5.5 points.
Girls: 1. Victoria Isakhanyan – 6 points; 2. Karine Morayan – 5,5 points; 3. Ani Tatoyan – 5.5 points. (more…)

The UDF Open National Draughts-64 Championship

The Uganda Draughts Federation held Open National Individual Draughts-64 Championship (poolcheckers) in Gulu town on 10th March 2018. A total of 22 participants (all men) took part in the Championship.  The championship was held in 9 rounds on the Swiss system, on Rapid game with time control 5 ‘+ 3 “. Stanley Odeke with 14 points won Championship. Isaac Bafaki with 12 points was in 2nd position, George William Omaya from Gulu with 12 points was 3rd and Julius Mwita with 12 points, a draughts player from Kenya, was in 4th position. 2nd Stage of World Cup 2018 – International competition “Uzbekistan-2018”

International Draughts Federation (IDF) together with Uzbekistan Draughts Federation in accordance with the Calendar of the competitions in 2018 hosted from March 24, (arrival day) till April 1, 2018 (departure day) in Tashkent, capital of  Uzbekistan, 2nd Stage of World Cup 2018 in draughts-64 – International competition “Uzbekistan-2018”.
Competitions was held with the support of the Fund for Promoting the Development of Draughts Sport “Russian Draughts”. International Draughts-64 Tournament among boys and girls in the age groups up to 14, 11 and 9 years on the prizes of the President of Uzbekistan Draughts Federation Yunus Amindjonov for the first time was held from March 24, (arrival day) till April 1, 2018 in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent together with with the 2nd Stage of World Cup 2018. The prize fund of the tournament was 1000 euros. 5th Online Tournament was held in Brazil

5th Online Tournament in draughts-64 (Brazilian draughts) was held in Brazil from 19/02/2018 to 16/03/2018. 112 players from various regions of Brazil and 5 players from other countries took part in competition. As far as we know, this was the biggest online tournament ever realized in Brazil. There were 9 rounds over 1 month of competition after that the top 16 players disputed the Qualifiers in 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, 1/2 finals and final.
